It is the most characteristic custom of the city that attracts visitors from all over Greece. At dawn on Easter Sunday, the city is literally covered with smoke from the hundreds of pits in the city`s neighborhoods. In the pits, meat is roasted in the traditional way over a fire of vinebranches. The feast is combined with folk musicians, folk songs of the region and dancing in the area of Kria and in the central square.
