The Holy Metropolitan Church of the Entrance of the Virgin Mary is located in the Athanasios Diakos Square, in the city of Livadeia. Next to the Church is the Holy Metropolis of Thebes and Levadeias.

The church was built after 1850 and was dedicated to the Entrance of the Virgin Mary. The interior of the church was entirely covered with white and grey marble slabs. The construction of the church began at the expense of the inhabitants and was completed in 1860.

The hagiography of the church was started in the 20th century by the famous local painter Theodore Lazaris, with the pictorial program of the Pantocrator, the Angels, the Prophets and the Evangelists. The western extension of the church took place in 1961 and the newest and complete hagiography in the late 1970s. The hagiography continued and was completed after the mid-1970s by the hagiographer Dimitrios Kentakas.

The Metropolitan Church is decorated with the exceptional portable icons by I. Papadimitriou, Sp. Hatzigiannopoulos, Michael Tzortzis and Andreas Stefopoulos from Desfina.

The city celebrates the Presentation of the Virgin Mary on November 21, a local holiday, with a procession of the icon.
