The Monastery of Lycouresi or Panagia tou Myrou is located in the gorge of the small river Aimonas near Cheronia. The church of the monastery dates back to the 15th century and has the rare feature of being roofed by nine domes. In 1821 it was the base of the hero of the Greek Revolution Athanasios Diakos, for the liberation of Livadeia from the Turks. According to popular tradition, its name is due to the protection from wolf raids. The monastery operates as a women`s monastery and celebrates on 8 September. Abbess: Nun Lydia.
