It was founded by Osios Seraphim in 1598 and has been in continuous operation until today. It is located at the southern foothills of Mount Elikonas in the position of Domvos, relatively close to the coastal locations of Zaltsa and Panagia Kalamiotissa (Karachalios). The monastery became a spiritual hive and a pole of attraction for believers because of the holiness of Osios Seraphim. Even today many people come to be healed by leaving vows in the tomb of the Saint, which is located in the vestibule of the Catholicos. It has a fine carved wooden temple and remarkable frescoes. During the revolution of 1821 against the Turks, the hero George Karaiskakis and his men often found shelter here.

Every year on May 6 (commemoration of the death of the Saint), a large number of worshippers gather at the monastery to venerate the Saint and ask for his help. Access is relatively difficult with dirt roads. The monastery is run as a male monastery and only men can enter the interior of the monastery. It is celebrated on May 6.
