Agios Dimitrios Archaeological Site – Location Spathes

The Wetland of Nei Pori is located at the southern end of the Regional Unit of Pieria and on the northern part of the Pinios river delta.   It extends over an area of about 3000 hectares and was formed by the flow of river Papapouli and the tide of the sea.   The local flora includes more than six hundred (600) species of plants and the fauna consists of both migrant and permanent birds, aquatic and shore birds, raptors as well as a significant number of fish (with high commercial value and of ecological significance), mammals, amphibians and reptiles.
