Ano Skotina is built at an altitude of 600m. above sea level on the southeast slopes of Mount Olympus.
Visitors can find guest houses, traditional taverns, restaurants and the area is also ideal for alternative tourism such as mountain horse-riding, climbing, trekking and others. The large centenarian plane tree in the square of the old village in Ano Skotina is impressive.
In the area, the visitor can see the Holy Temple of the Assumption of Mary, a domed basilica with a woman’s area and the unique wood-carved altarpiece, Saint Athanasios Church, the Church of the Redeemer in the location Kotris, with an inscription stating the church was built in 1618. The visitor can also see the elementary school and stroll through the narrow streets and alleys.
It is about 7km away from the traditional settlement of Old Panteleimon.
