Palea Vrontou is located at the foot of Mount Olympus at an altitude of 400m. above sea level and about 5km. away from the village.

The only listed monument in good condition is the Saint Nikolaus church. Other typical examples of the old settlement are the ruins of stone-built houses and the stone-built school.

The settlement was named after the heavy roar of the water, rushing from Mount Olympus.

The area is 21km. away from Katerini and can be easily accessed by the provincial road Katerini-Dion.
