The first settlement of Leptokarya, as we know it today, was called “Leftokaryes”, built at the foot of eastern Mount Olympus, at an altitude of about 400m. and 4km. away from the sea, very close to the area where Ancient Livithra was built, amidst the centenarian plane tree forest. From this point on, the visitor can embark in paths through nature.

This area houses the cemetery temple of the Holy Trinity, set on fire during one of the revolutions in Mount Olympus and the abandoned Saint Nikolaus church in the center.

Many people gather in Old Leptokarya to celebrate the Life-Giving Spring day, on Friday after Easter to attend the traditional festival with songs and dances from Macedonia.
