The Store Gallery of Dion was created explicitly to maintain the significant mosaic of the “Dionysus Mansion”, discovered in the archaeological site of Dion.

The mosaic is one of the most impressive mosaics found in Greece. It used to decorate the central area of the Dionysus mansion and was also named after it. It is a symposium room of 100 square meters in a building dated to 200 AD, one of the most significant building complexes of ancient Dion.

The Store Gallery of Dion is also a place where other findings from excavations in the area are studied, conserved and stored. Visitors are allowed to enter and watch the maintenance process, see the newly discovered findings usually locked in dark storage rooms for years. The findings are transferred there temporarily to be maintained and studied until returning to their natural environment or being exhibited in the museum.
