The Holy Monastery of Saint Ephraim of Syria was established in 1983. It is located 12km southwest of the center of Katerini, in the village of Kontariotissa.
The Monastery is built on a hill where visitors can enjoy the view of the Olympus mountain, the sea and Thessaloniki.
The catholicon (main church) of the Monastery, which was inaugurated on June 10th 2000 is dedicated to its patron Saint, Saint Ephraim, and the Mother of God of the Life-giving Spring.
The underground church is dedicated to the Honorable Forerunner and the New Martyrs Raphael, Nikolaos and Irene.
The Monastery is celebrated on the 28th of January, on the celebration day of Saint Ephraim of Syria.
